Activities include a broad range of programs, directed by the activities coordinator.
• Monthly birthday parties to which all residents are invited.
• Area churches that visit.
• Trips and tours to community events. Gibbs has a special resident fund from the sale of arts and crafts made and sold by the residents to finance anything the resident council decides to support.
• Celebrations of various holidays, both secular and religious.
• Resident discussion groups.
• Musical events can be enjoyed actively or passively depending on the abilities of the residents. This includes sing-alongs in which the residents request their favorite songs and sing along with a leader.
• There is a central library available for residents, in addition staff will deliver books to the room of residents. Talking books for the blind are also part of the service.
• Social hours provide a time of resident interaction.
• Arts and crafts programs separate from occupational therapy frequently are offered by the activities coordinator.
• Current technology is utilized by both residents and staff to improve physical and mental abilities. Internet, interactive games and entertainment modules are used with residents to help maintain, or enhance, their range of motion.
